Seventy five years ago Mohandas K. Gandhi launched
the famous Salt March to seek “world sympathy
in this battle of right against might.”
Today the struggle between Right and Might is
not only intense it is international.
To mark the 75th anniversary of the 241 mile
walk the great grandson of the Mahatma, Tushar
A. Gandhi, calls on the world community of peace
lovers to join him in the 241 mile walk for
Global Peace from March 12 to April 6 being
organised in India from Sabarmati to Dandi,
or to support the effort locally by organising
a “silent, candle light march for world
peace in your town or city around the world.
This will be our reaffirmation in peace and
nonviolence and a tribute to all the victims
of violence.”
“There is no greater super-power than
the power of the people. Ultimately, it is the
people who will establish peace in the world
and not the governments.” Says Tushar
A. Gandhi, Founder President of Mahatma Gandhi
Foundation in Mumbai, India.
The original Salt March “Shook the foundation
of the British Empire and I hope this march
for peace will awaken the people of the world
to stand up for peace and nonviolence and reaffirm
the power of Right over Might.”
