On 3rd December 2004, the Mahatma Gandhi Foundation did a reconnaissance of the route of the event. The journey was done backwards from Dharasana Salt Works to Bharuch District, visiting the various villages on the way, by Mr. Tushar A. Gandhi, K. Pandyan, Vijay Brahmbhatt, Sudhir Gattawar and Mahesh Baikar. The remaining trip from Bharuch to Ahmedabad will be done soon.
